What CupBots Does (and What It Doesn't)

We'd rather you know exactly what you're getting before you try CupBots than find out after. Here's the honest rundown — what it does well, what it doesn't do, and why.

What CupBots does

Personal CRM

Track contacts, conversations, and follow-ups. Tier your relationships (hot lead vs. casual contact). Text /whois Sarah and get everything you know about her — last conversation, notes, next follow-up. Text /touched to see who you haven't spoken to in a while.

Reminders that actually work

Natural language reminders delivered right to your WhatsApp. "Remind me to send the proposal Friday at 9am" — done. If you don't confirm, it'll nudge you again. No app to check, no notification to miss.

Calendar management

Connects to your CalDAV calendar (Google Calendar, iCloud, Nextcloud, etc.). Ask "what's my week look like?" and get a clean summary. Add events by texting "schedule dentist Tuesday 3pm." Get a morning briefing of your day before you open your laptop.

Research on demand

Search Reddit, YouTube, and X/Twitter from your chat. Ask about trends in your niche, get AI-curated summaries, dive into YouTube videos without watching them. All results delivered as clean, readable messages.

Notes and knowledge base

Capture ideas, meeting notes, and reference material. Everything is searchable. Upload documents and search across them semantically — ask a question and get answers pulled from your own files.

Morning briefings

Every day, your bot can text you a summary: today's calendar, pending reminders, contacts due for follow-up, and anything else your plugins want to report. It's like a personal EA that checks in before breakfast.

Lead qualification

Set criteria for what makes a good lead. When new contacts come in, your bot qualifies them automatically — so you spend time on calls that actually convert, not tire-kickers.

Scheduled messages

Draft a WhatsApp message now, send it later. Schedule birthday greetings, follow-ups, or announcements. Your bot sends them at the right time, even if you're asleep.

AI chat

Just talk to your bot like a person. Ask questions, brainstorm ideas, draft emails, get advice. It knows your context from your CRM, notes, and calendar — so its answers are actually relevant to your business, not generic AI responses.

What CupBots doesn't do

These aren't failures — they're deliberate choices about what CupBots should and shouldn't be.

It's not a full enterprise CRM

If you have a 50-person sales team that needs pipeline stages, deal forecasting, territory management, and Salesforce-level reporting — CupBots isn't that. It's a personal CRM for tracking relationships, not a sales ops platform.

It doesn't handle payments or invoicing

CupBots won't generate invoices, process payments, or manage your accounting. There are great tools for that (Stripe, Wave, Xero). We'd rather integrate with them than rebuild them poorly.

It's WhatsApp only (for now)

No Telegram, no Slack, no SMS, no email. We chose to do one platform really well instead of doing five platforms halfway. WhatsApp is where most of our users already live, so that's where we built. Other platforms are on the roadmap, but we won't ship them until they're as good as the WhatsApp experience.

No visual dashboard

There's no web app with charts and graphs. Everything happens in the chat. If you need visual analytics, export your data and use a BI tool. CupBots is intentionally text-first — it's a feature, not a limitation.

No phone support

Support happens over WhatsApp (naturally). We're a small team and we'd rather ship features than staff a call center. You can text us anytime and we respond fast — but we won't pick up the phone.

The philosophy

CupBots does a few things really well instead of doing everything adequately. Every feature works through a single interface you already use. We add capabilities through plugins so you only get what you need.
